AMC Posts the 4-Minute Walking Dead Trailer
Frank Darabont’s television adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s comic series The Walking Dead is finally almost here. People like me have been excited about this for over a year, and now it’s close enough to taste. Maybe not the best wording to use when discussing flesh-eating zombies, but there it is.
Get the gory details, and the trailer, after the jump.
So this is the full, four-minute trailer that AMC debuted at their panel at ComicCon last month. The clip gives a pretty solid summary of the beginning of both the comic and the show, with the main character Rick as a police officer injured in a shoot-out, then waking up from a coma to find he has slept through the zombie apocalypse. The music at the end, as things start to look really bad for Rick, is grimly appropriate gallows humor: “The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine Anymore”? Brilliant.
The main reason I’m excited is that, as Robert Kirkman has said before, the dissatisfying thing about zombie movies is that you never get to find out what happens after the end of the movie. Answering that question is the reason he created an on-going zombie comic series. Having an on-going television series will also directly address the question of “what happens next.”
AMC has confirmed the official premiere date as October 31 at 10 PM – that’s right, kids: Halloween. Who needs candy?
