Epic “Call of Duty: Black Ops” Ad

Posted by on Nov 7, 2010

I’m not looking forward to the new CoD as much as I’m sure some of the other NNAR guys are, but I can appreciate good advertising when I see it.  The newest commercial for “Black Ops” tries to prove that “there’s a soldier in all of us” by showing Xbox Live (or whatever the PlayStation equivalent is) players in an actual combat environment.  Cue “Gimme Shelter” (the Rolling Stones song used in every war movie since Let It Bleed came out in 1969), throw in some celebrity cameos, and you end up with a pretty great ad.  Hit the jump to soldier up.

“Call of Duty: Black Ops” streets November 9 for the 360 and the PS3.  Let us know what you think of it.  And (SPOILERS) mad props to the concierge for multitasking.

  • That’s pretty amazing. Particular fan of “Proud Noob” written down the side of Kimmel’s RPG. I still don’t know what I think about this game. I’ll probably wait for the reviews before deciding on purchase. Besides, I just bought Fallout: New Vegas, so I’ll probably disappear for a few weeks.

  • I tend to agree, that was pretty amazing, but I also seem to recall a similar ad campaign being done before. Who knows… What I do know is that it’s a miracle the anti-violence people haven’t burned down Washington trying to stop them from running this ad yet.
