World of Warcraft is Now Free To Play to Level 20

Posted by on Jun 30, 2011

Except for Jon, everyone of us at NNAR has at some point found themselves at least minorly addicted to the World of Warcraft.  Of course, we are are not alone, as the game currently boasts around 12 million subscribers.  Apparently Blizzard has decided that this isn’t enough.  Yesterday, they announced that they will be making the game free to play for the first 20 levels of a character’s life.

This is an interesting move from Blizzard that is clearly meant to draw people in risk free and get them hooked.  Previously, new players could get a ten day trial with a similar level 20 restriction.  This has now been extended to be unlimited and all previously expired trial accounts have been turned back on.  There are some other restrictions like the ability to have only 100 gold at a time.  For a full FAQ on the changes, look no further.

So what do you think?  Are you going to play?  I admit I might fire it up again, just to see the destruction that the most recent expansion has caused on Azeroth.
