New Trailer for Frank Miller’s Holy Terror

Posted by on Jul 21, 2011

Legendary Entertainment has just released a motion comic-esque trailer for Frank Miller’s upcoming graphic novel Holy Terror.  Originally titled Holy Terror, Batman! (Burt Ward’s Robin FTW), the book was meant to be a story in which The Caped Crusader fought Al-Qaeda.  Yes, you read that right.

Apparently, along the course of its development Miller decided that the story was inappropriate for Batman (presumably for the amount of straight up killing people it entailed) and adapted the work for the new character of “The Fixer”.  Given the book’s surely controversial nature and Miller’s own admission that it is “bound to offend just about everybody”, I’ll give you even odds that DC “helped” Miller with that decision.  Miller himself has described the book as part propoganda piece.

And, as the racial stereotypes common in propaganda pieces don’t tend to age well, it’s understandable why DC might have been once bitten, twice shy…

What do you guys think?

    “Ten years in the making”?
So it’s a response to 9/11. Oh good.
I was never really certain in DKR if Frank Miller was merely depicting Batman as a borderline-fascist character, or supporting and sympathizing with him in that manner. Maybe this book will clear up that confusion for me.
