Official Hobbit Trailer Released

Yesterday, the first official trailer for Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit Part 1 was released.  We here at NNAR, to put it modestly, are really frickinexcited for Tolkien’s prequel to LOTR to hit the big screen.  Those cast members new to Middle Earth include Martin Freeman, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Evangeline Lilly.  Many actors are returning to work with Jackson on this project, namely Ian Mckellan and Andy Serkis (who is also co-directing). Over the next year, re-reading of Bilbo’s epic tale is a must.  But for now, wet your whistle with this short video. Read moreRead more

Newest Hobbit Production Video(s)

“Chip the glasses crack the plates, that’s what Bilbo Baggins hates.”  Cram 13 Dwarves, 1 wizard, and 1 timid, overly-concerned-with-manners little Hobbit into one room for dinner, and what do you get? Two excellent Peter Jackson films!  With the third (and in my opinion, best) production video released just hours ago, we can really, for the first time, step back into Middle Earth, and whet our appetites for The Hobbit, Parts 1 and 2.

Lord of the Rings Extended Trilogy for $50 Off

Just in time for tonight’s final installment in the re-release of Peter Jackson’s (and JRR Tolkien’s) masterpiece, Amazon is running a great deal on the just-released extended edition of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy.  The whole set can be yours for only $69.99, a whopping $50 off the MSRP.  While Amazon usually doesn’t charge MSRP, this set has been hovering at around $90 for the last few weeks, so I certainly plan to snap this up.

Get it here.

Kate from LOST to join cast of ‘The Hobbit’

Kate was one of the most compelling, intricate, and downright sexy characters in the hit TV series LOST.  Played by Evangeline Lilly, her character captured (and often times broke) the hearts of the two manly-men male leads, Jack and Sawyer, along with the hearts of fans across the globe.  Now, Lilly is back, and will be playing the Elf Tauriel in Peter Jackson’s two part film project of The Hobbit.   Read moreRead more

Just a little mark on the door...

Shirt Loot: Those Nasssttty Adventurous Hobbittses

Having just seen the Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring on the big screen once again in anticipation of the BluRay release, I cannot help but get excited for The Hobbit. Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings is the best book to movie adaptation I have ever seen; it conveys the epic tale with as much detail and power as it deserves.

And so, I’m now on a Tolkien kick, and what better to feed my fire than today’s shirt. I cannot wait to see Thorin and his band of treasure hunters march up to Bag End and whisk Bilbo off on an adventure on the big screen, but for now I think I’ll content myself to pretend I’m one of that merry band with this t-shirt.

Reminder: LoTR Extended Edition Re-Released in Theaters

For those of you plugged into the nerd world, this is rather old news. We here at NNAR heard about this back at the end of April, discussed it excitedly amongst ourselves, and then totally brain farted on posting about it. Whoops. However, while on Fandango today purchasing my own tickets, I realized that a simple reminder could prevent mass wailing and gnashing of teeth by Tolkienites everywhere.

There and Back Again – First Glimpses into The Hobbit

JRR is and always will be first in my heart and the father of my nerdity.  I just came upon this little truffle, and SWEET MOSES is this awesome!  Peter Jackson, who was finally brought on to direct the Hobbit films (to be done in 2 installments), has released the first video from inside the set/filming of The Hobbit Part 1.

We are shown mere tastes of what is to come in terms of sets, costumes, Sting, Middle Earth, goblin tunnels, the initial dwarf dinner at Bag End, new and returning cast members from LOTR, and Peter’s sick-awesome accent (which reminds me a lot of these guys – apologies, easily distracted).

Well, enough of my blathering, this video clearly stands on its own hairy feet.
