Teaser Poster – The Dark Knight Rises

The anticipation for Christopher Nolan’s next and supposedly final installment of the Batman movie franchise is through the roof.  Now that viral marketing is a well established form of promotion, fans are jumping on every little morsel they can get, as soon as they can get it.  We were first introduced to the viral campaign for The Dark Knight Rises back in May, when some mysterious chanting appeared on the official website.  This then lead to a Twitter hashtag (#TheFireRises), which eventually revealed a picture of Thomas Hardy as Bane.  So, fellow fans, here is the next morsel – this first teaser poster for TDKR was posted late last night on their official website, www.thedarkknightrises.comRead moreRead more


TDKR’s Bane Revealed!

When the official website for The Dark Knight Rises launched this morning, expectant fans hoping for news of the film’s now ongoing production were greeted, instead, by cryptic chanting.  Through some pretty impressive technical wizardry, one such fan analyzed said chanting and found (wait for it) a Twitter hashtag, “#TheFireRises”.  As that hashtag has been tweeted out, an image has been slowly revealed on the main site.  That image is our first look at Tom Hardy’s character, Bane.

Many, including myself, have/had concerns about how Bane will fit into the more “realistic” version of Gotham City that Nolan and company have built over the previous two films.  If you aren’t familiar with the character, he’s a criminal genius (aren’t they all?) who augments his already considerable physical strength via the drug “Venom”.  Said drug is self administered, through hydraulic tubing that has become a staple of the character’s costume, directly into his brain.

Don’t Forget To Take The Next Step Down The Maester’s Path

The fine folks at HBO have unlocked a new challenge on The Maester’s Path, the marketing site developed for the upcoming Game Of Thrones TV show on HBO.  Don’t forget to go and complete the any of the challenges you have yet to finish.  There are three out at the moment and we have been promised a total of five.  Hopefully you’ll get some cool swag out of it.

HBO Kicks Off Viral Marketing Campaign for Game of Thrones

It’s no secret that many of us here at NNAR are fans of George R.R. Martin’s Song of Ice and Fire series, and this isn’t the first time I’ve mentioned the upcoming Game of Thrones series on HBO.  Needless to say, I was giddy when I learned that HBO kicked off a new viral marketing campaign in anticipation of the show’s April 17th debut.

Late last week, reports began coming in from websites across the Internet about packages they’d received, containing a map of the book’s main continent of Westeros, six phials of scented oils, and two scrolls showing the owner how to combine the oils to create the scents of key locations from the books.  Awesome, but for the large portion of the world that isn’t identified as important enough to get such cool stuff, this didn’t really have any direct effect.  Until today.
